2026 Calendar with Federal Holidays
Twelve months with week numbers, holidays and business day counts, printable
The 2026 calendar begins on Thursday, January 1 and ends on Thursday, December 31, 2026. It is a common year of 365 days with 53 ISO weeks, and after the 11 federal holidays it has 250 business days.
Only one federal holiday moves in 2026: Independence Day falls on Saturday, July 4, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, so the day off is Friday, July 3. All holidays are shaded in the grids below.
Last updated October 2026
Method: Dates come from Gregorian calendar arithmetic. The 11 federal holidays follow 5 U.S.C. 6103(a), with OPM's observed-day rule for weekend holidays, and match OPM's 2026 schedule. ISO 8601 week numbers. Easter and the dates built on it match the U.S. Naval Observatory; daylight saving dates follow the federal rule published by NIST.
Included: All 12 months with Sunday-first weeks and ISO week numbers, the 11 federal holidays, 12 observances from Valentine's Day to Election Day, and day counts by month and quarter.
Not included: State holidays, school breaks, religious holidays not tied to Easter, and closings added by executive order.

2026 calendar: what makes this year different
Most years look alike on a wall, but 2026 has a few traits worth knowing before you plan around it: a 53rd ISO week, three Friday the 13ths, a February that fits in exactly four rows, and only one holiday that shifts to another day. The counts below come from the same rules as the grids. To measure the gap between two specific dates, use the Date Calculator; to count only working days, use the Business Days Calculator.
2026 at a glance
- Length: 365 days from Thursday to Thursday, so Thursday is the one weekday that occurs 53 times.
- Weeks: 53 ISO weeks, the first 53-week ISO year since 2020; the next is 2032.
- Working time: 261 weekdays, 104 weekend days, 11 federal holidays on weekdays and 250 business days.
- Seasons (Eastern Time): spring begins March 20 at 10:46 a.m. EDT, summer June 21 at 4:24 a.m. EDT, fall September 22 at 8:05 p.m. EDT and winter December 21 at 3:50 p.m. EST.
- Daylight saving time: from 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8 to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1.
- Friday the 13th: three times, in February, March and November.
- Midterm election: Tuesday, November 3, with every House seat and about a third of the Senate on the ballot.
Holidays and observances in 2026
Federal holidays are the days federal offices close; observances are dates many people plan around that are not days off. Daylight saving changes are listed because they move the clock in most of the country; Hawaii, most of Arizona and the territories stay on standard time.
| Date | Day | Holiday or observance | Type |

| Jan 1 | Thu | New Year's Day | Federal holiday |
| Jan 19 | Mon | Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. | Federal holiday |

| Nov 3 | Tue | Election Day | Observance |
| Nov 11 | Wed | Veterans Day | Federal holiday |
| Nov 26 | Thu | Thanksgiving Day | Federal holiday |
| Dec 25 | Fri | Christmas Day | Federal holiday |
Ten of the 11 federal holidays fall on weekdays as written. The exception is Independence Day: Saturday, July 4, 2026 marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was adopted, and the federal day off moves to Friday, July 3. Juneteenth on Friday, June 19 creates a second three-day weekend two weeks earlier. Veterans Day lands on a Wednesday, the one holiday this year too far from a weekend to stretch it with a single day off. Closures by office, bank and market are on the Federal Holidays 2026 page.
Business days in 2026 by month and quarter
A business day here is any Monday to Friday that is not a federal holiday. Count your own state's holidays separately if your employer or court follows them.
| Month | Days | Weekdays | Federal holidays | Business days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | 31 | 22 | 2 | 20 |
| February | 28 | 20 | 1 | 19 |
| March | 31 | 22 | 0 | 22 |
| Q1 total | 90 | 64 | 3 | 61 |
| April | 30 | 22 | 0 | 22 |
| May | 31 | 21 | 1 | 20 |
| June | 30 | 22 | 1 | 21 |
| Q2 total | 91 | 65 | 2 | 63 |
| July | 31 | 23 | 1 | 22 |
| August | 31 | 21 | 0 | 21 |
| September | 30 | 22 | 1 | 21 |
| Q3 total | 92 | 66 | 2 | 64 |
| October | 31 | 22 | 1 | 21 |
| November | 30 | 21 | 2 | 19 |
| December | 31 | 23 | 1 | 22 |
| Q4 total | 92 | 66 | 4 | 62 |
| Year 2026 | 365 | 261 | 11 | 250 |
The third quarter is the longest working stretch of 2026 with 64 business days, and the first is the shortest with 61. February and November tie for the fewest business days at 19, February because it is short and November because Veterans Day and Thanksgiving both land in it. March, April, July and December each offer 22.
Why 2026 has 53 ISO weeks
ISO 8601 weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is whichever week holds the year's first Thursday. When January 1 is itself a Thursday, as in 2026, week 1 starts three days early, on Monday, December 29, 2025, and the year ends up with 53 weeks: week 53 runs from Monday, December 28, 2026 to Sunday, January 3, 2027. Weekly sales reports, fiscal calendars built on whole weeks and "week 52" deadlines all need an extra week this year. The number column beside each month shows the ISO week of that row's Monday-to-Saturday days, since every Sunday belongs to the week before. The Week Number Calculator gives the week for any date.
A calendar that comes back in 2037
Calendars repeat when a year starts on the same weekday and has the same leap status. Between 1990 and 2060, the years sharing the 2026 layout are 1998, 2009, 2015, 2037, 2043, 2054. Two of them, 2015 and 2037, also share the 2026 Easter date of April 5, so their Mardi Gras, Good Friday and Easter land on the same days. The 2015 match falls short in one detail: Juneteenth did not become a federal holiday until 2021, so a 2015 calendar lacks the June 19 day off.
Three Friday the 13ths and a perfect February
A month has a Friday the 13th exactly when it starts on a Sunday. In 2026 that happens in February, March and November, the most a year can have. February 2026 also starts on a Sunday with 28 days, so it fills four complete rows with no partial week, and March repeats February's layout for its first 28 days. May is the month of long weekends: it starts on a Friday and has 31 days, so it holds five full Friday-to-Sunday weekends, and Memorial Day on Monday, May 25 turns the fourth Saturday and Sunday into a three-day weekend.
Spring and fall dates to plan around
Mardi Gras is Tuesday, February 17 and Ash Wednesday follows on February 18. Clocks move forward on March 8, St. Patrick's Day is a Tuesday, and Easter is Sunday, April 5, with Good Friday on April 3. Mother's Day is May 10, and Father's Day on June 21 coincides with the summer solstice, which arrives at 4:24 a.m. EDT. In the fall, Halloween falls on a Saturday and daylight saving time ends a few hours later, at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, so the night after Halloween is an hour longer. Next year's versions of these dates are on the Easter 2027, Mardi Gras 2027 and Mother's Day 2027 pages, and the Countdown Calculator tracks the days to any of them.
Printing tips
The browser's Print command (Ctrl+P, or Cmd+P on a Mac) switches to a layout of three portrait pages, January to April, May to August and September to December, without menus or ads. Enable "Background graphics" to keep the holiday shading, and print at 100 percent scale.

❓ Frequently asked questions
Is 2026 a leap year?
No. 2026 has 365 days and February ends on the 28th. The next leap year is 2028, and its leap day, February 29, 2028, falls on a Tuesday.
How many business days are in 2026?
2026 has 250 business days. There are 261 weekdays, and all 11 federal holidays are observed on a weekday, so 261 minus 11 leaves 250. State holidays or a company's own closing days reduce the count further.
Does 2026 have 53 weeks?
Yes, in the ISO 8601 system. A year that starts on a Thursday has 53 ISO weeks, and January 1, 2026 is a Thursday. Week 1 began on Monday, December 29, 2025, and week 53 runs from Monday, December 28, 2026 to Sunday, January 3, 2027.
Which federal holiday is observed on a different day in 2026?
Only Independence Day. July 4, 2026 is a Saturday, so federal employees and most offices take Friday, July 3 off instead. The other ten federal holidays of 2026 already fall on weekdays.
When does daylight saving time start and end in 2026?
Clocks spring forward one hour at 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, March 8, 2026 and fall back one hour at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico and the other territories stay on standard time all year.
What year has the same calendar as 2026?
2015 had exactly the same calendar, and so will 2037. Both also share the 2026 Easter date of April 5, so their Easter-based dates match too. Other years with the same weekday layout between 1990 and 2060 are 1998, 2009, 2043 and 2054, but their Easter falls on a different date.
Why are some dates outlined instead of shaded?
A shaded date is a federal day off. An outlined date is a federal holiday whose legal date falls on a weekend, which in 2026 happens only once: Saturday, July 4. The shaded Friday, July 3 next to it is the observed day off.
How do I print this 2026 calendar?
Use your browser's Print command (Ctrl+P, or Cmd+P on a Mac). The page switches to a print layout with four months on each of three portrait pages and leaves out the menus, text and ads. Turn on "Background graphics" in the print dialog to keep the holiday shading, and print at 100 percent scale.
๐ก Good to know
July 3 is a federal day off, but not for every institution
Federal offices close on Friday, July 3, 2026, and so does the New York Stock Exchange. Federal Reserve Banks follow a different rule for Saturday holidays and stay open that Friday, so check with your bank before counting on a closure.
Week 53 belongs to 2026, even in January 2027
Friday, January 1 through Sunday, January 3, 2027 carry the ISO label 2026-W53. A spreadsheet that groups dates by ISO week will file them under 2026, which is correct by the standard but surprising in a year-end report.
