2027 Calendar with Federal Holidays

All 12 months, ISO week numbers, holidays and business days, ready to print

The 2027 calendar runs from Friday, January 1 to Friday, December 31, 2027. 2027 is not a leap year: it has 365 days, 52 ISO weeks and 249 business days once the 12 federal holiday dates that land on weekdays are taken out.

Federal holidays are shaded in the calendar below. The list under it adds Easter, Mother's Day, daylight saving time and the other dates people plan around, and the page prints cleanly on three sheets.

Method: Every date is computed from the Gregorian calendar. Federal holidays follow 5 U.S.C. 6103(a), and the observed day off follows the OPM rule (Saturday holidays move to the Friday before, Sunday holidays to the Monday after); the result matches OPM's published 2027 schedule. Week numbers follow ISO 8601. Easter-based dates match the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Included: 12 month grids with Sunday-first weeks, ISO week numbers, the 11 federal holidays of 2027 plus the December 31 day off for New Year's Day 2028, 12 common observances, and weekdays and business days by month and quarter.

Not included: State and local holidays, school calendars, religious holidays that do not depend on Easter, and any extra closing a President orders by executive order later in the year.

2027 calendar: holidays, week numbers and day counts

A year calendar answers two questions: what weekday a date falls on, and how much working time sits between two dates. The grids above handle the first; the tables below handle the second, computed from the same rules that set the federal holidays. For individual dates, the Date Calculator adds or subtracts days and the Business Days Calculator counts working days between any two dates.

2027 at a glance

  • Length: 365 days, starting and ending on a Friday. The next leap year is 2028.
  • Weeks: 52 ISO weeks. Week 1 begins Monday, January 4, and December 31 falls in week 52.
  • Working time: 261 weekdays and 104 weekend days; 12 federal holiday dates on weekdays leave 249 business days.
  • Seasons (Eastern Time): spring begins March 20 at 4:25 p.m. EDT, summer June 21 at 10:11 a.m. EDT, fall September 23 at 2:02 a.m. EDT (still September 22 on the West Coast) and winter December 21 at 9:42 p.m. EST.
  • Daylight saving time: clocks move ahead on Sunday, March 14 and back on Sunday, November 7, both at 2:00 a.m. local time.
  • Friday the 13th: only once, on August 13, because August is the only month of 2027 that starts on a Sunday.
  • Five full weekends: January and October each contain five complete Friday-to-Sunday weekends.

Holidays and observances in 2027

"Federal holiday" means federal offices close and most federal employees have the day off; where the legal date falls on a weekend, the observed weekday is shown. Observances are widely marked dates that are not days off under federal law.

Four holiday dates move in 2027. Juneteenth (Saturday, June 19) is observed on Friday, June 18; Independence Day (Sunday, July 4) on Monday, July 5; and Christmas Day (Saturday, December 25) on Friday, December 24. New Year's Day 2028 is also a Saturday, so its day off lands on Friday, December 31, 2027, giving 2027 twelve federal days off instead of eleven. The Federal Holidays 2027 page shows which offices, banks and markets close on each.

Business days in 2027 by month and quarter

Business days here are Monday through Friday minus the federal holidays observed on those weekdays, the schedule federal offices follow. Banks that follow the Federal Reserve stay open on the Friday before a Saturday holiday (June 18, December 24 and December 31 in 2027), and some employers add state holidays or close on the day after Thanksgiving.

March is the busiest month of 2027 with 23 business days and no federal holiday; January and February are the shortest at 19 each. The fourth quarter carries five federal days off (Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the observed Christmas and New Year's Day 2028), so it has 61 business days, three fewer than the third quarter of the same length.

How the week numbers work

The narrow column beside each month shows the ISO 8601 week number, used across Europe, in many payroll and logistics systems and in the spreadsheet function ISOWEEKNUM. ISO weeks run Monday through Sunday, and week 1 is the week containing the year's first Thursday. In 2027 that Thursday is January 7, so week 1 runs from Monday, January 4 to Sunday, January 10.

The side effect shows in January: Friday, January 1 through Sunday, January 3 belong to week 53 of 2026, which is why January's first row reads 53. Because the grids put Sunday first, as US calendars do, each row's number belongs to its Monday-to-Saturday days, and each Sunday closes the previous ISO week. Some US software instead starts week 1 on January 1, so confirm the convention before matching numbers; the Week Number Calculator converts any single date.

53 Fridays, and why payroll cares

Every common year has one weekday that occurs 53 times: the weekday it starts on, which in 2027 is Friday. A weekly payroll that pays on Fridays therefore issues 53 paychecks in 2027 instead of 52, which matters wherever an annual salary is split into weekly amounts. Biweekly Friday payrolls issue 26 or 27 checks, depending on whether their cycle includes both January 1 and December 31. Monthly bills are unaffected.

Years with the same calendar as 2027

A calendar repeats when a year starts on the same weekday and has the same leap status. Between 1990 and 2060, the years that match 2027 are 1993, 1999, 2010, 2021, 2038, 2049, 2055. The match with 2021 goes beyond the grid: 2021 also observed Juneteenth on Friday, June 18, Independence Day on Monday, July 5, Christmas on Friday, December 24 and New Year's Day 2022 on Friday, December 31, so its federal days off are identical.

Easter does not carry over. It fell on April 4 in 2021 but falls on March 28 in 2027, so Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday land in different weeks. Mother's Day, Thanksgiving and the other nth-weekday dates do repeat, because they depend only on the weekday layout.

Easter and the other dates that move

Easter 2027 is on Sunday, March 28, the earliest Easter since 2016. That pulls the whole spring sequence forward: Mardi Gras is Tuesday, February 9, Ash Wednesday is February 10, Valentine's Day lands on the first Sunday of Lent, and Good Friday is March 26, just 12 days after daylight saving time begins. Mother's Day is Sunday, May 9, Father's Day is Sunday, June 20, and Halloween falls on a Sunday. Election Day is Tuesday, November 2; 2027 has no federal general election, but several states and many cities and school districts hold elections that day.

Printing the calendar

Printing from the browser produces three portrait pages with four months each; menus, text and ads are left out, and each page carries its own heading. In the print dialog, turn on "Background graphics" so the holiday shading prints, and keep the scale at 100 percent so the breaks fall between months. Letter and A4 paper both work. For a running count toward one date, the Countdown Calculator is quicker than counting squares.

When does daylight saving time start and end in 2027?

Clocks spring forward one hour at 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, March 14, 2027 and fall back one hour at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2027, following the federal rule of the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November. Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico and the other territories stay on standard time all year.

How do I print this 2027 calendar?

Use your browser's Print command (Ctrl+P, or Cmd+P on a Mac). The page switches to a print layout with four months on each of three pages and hides the menus, text and ads. Turn on "Background graphics" in the print dialog if you want the holiday shading to print.

๐Ÿ’ก Good to know

Two Fridays off in a row at year end

Christmas is observed on Friday, December 24 and New Year's Day 2028 on Friday, December 31, so federal employees get back-to-back three-day weekends. The financial system does not follow the second one: Federal Reserve Banks stay open on December 31, and the New York Stock Exchange observes no New Year's Day holiday at all for 2028.

The shaded day is the day off, not the holiday's legal date

July 4, 2027 is still Independence Day, and fireworks follow the calendar date. The shaded Monday, July 5 is the weekday that federal employees, banks and most offices take off instead. Outlined dates in the grid mark those weekend legal dates.
